Crystal Palace fans react after Dominic Solanke leaves Liverpool for Bournemouth in 19m deal

Crystal Palace were also interested in signing the striker from Liverpool.

AFC Bournemouth unveil new signing Dominic Solanke at Vitality Stadium on January 4, 2019 in Bournemouth, England.

Crystal Palace fans are reacting on Twitter after one of their transfer targets made a shock switch to Bournemouth instead. Dominic Solanke left Liverpool to join the Cherries on Friday – for a reported fee of £19 million, plus add-ons.

It comes just days after the Palace manager, Roy Hodgson, confirmed his side had opted against pursuing a deal for the striker, with the BBC suggesting that was due to medical reasons.

But what do those of a Crystal Palace persuasion – who have seen their recognised centre-forwards score just once in the Premier League this season – make of Solanke’s move?

Some of them aren’t too pleased…

Solanke signing for Bournemouth has pissed me off. We have missed out on a quality young player because we had a short term view. The Cherries have been very smart here

Looks like Solanke was another deal we’ve bottled out of. #cpfc

Bournemouth weren’t too worried about Solanke’s fitness #CPFC

Really, really hope we don’t come to regret backing out of the Solanke deal.

I can only hope getting rid of Joniesta and others will free up some space for a few signings! If we were that keen on Solanke surely we should have paid the fee as he is an investment #cpfc transfer dealings worry me we seem to be going backwards!

Others, however, are supportive of the Eagles’ decision…

No wonder it’s so hard to find and buy a striker at a decent price.

£19m + up to £5m in add-ons for Solanke is an absolute joke.

Palace were going to sign Solanke on loan and consequently wanted him to be fit and ready to play immediately, Bournemouth are getting him permanently which lessens the need for him to come straight into their starting XI. https://t.co/7fa9uRJaIe

You are the one saying we should spending money for the sake of it. Not spending £20m on Solanke is hardly a lack of ambition.

Solanke is a very expensive gamble.

I would rather take a punt on Maja for say a few million then spend a few million on Solanke’s loan fee anyway. #cpfc

Solanke moved to Liverpool from Chelsea in 2017, but only scored once in 27 games for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The England Under-21 international is expected to replace another (rumoured) Crystal Palace target, Jermain Defoe, at Bournemouth, with Rangers thought to be closing in on the 36-year-old.

Should Crystal Palace have pursued a deal for the former Liverpool striker?
