The ATP Doha Open, also known as the Qatar Open, is one of the most important tournaments that got a lot of hype, mainly because of Rafael Nadal, who had previously announced his second comeback of the year.

However, Nadal recently released a statement that he will not be able to play in the tournament as he is not ready. Following suit was defending champion Daniil Medvedev, who also withdrew from the tournament days before it commenced.

No official information has been released from the Russian side, and likewise, no reason has also been stated. The World No. 3 had another final loss at the Australian Open.

Despite coming within touching distance, he choked and lost the match and the title to Jannik Sinner. Following that, Medvedev withdrew from the Rotterdam Open, where he was the defending champion.

Stating that he had not yet recovered from his previous games and was suffering from fatigue, the Russian withdrew.

Last year, it was at this phase that Medvedev was consistent and secured his spot in the top 3 for the rest of the year. However, the tournament must go on as other ATP stars like Andrey Rublev and Andy Murray remain in the mix.

Daniil Medvedev continues his prolonged break from tennis after a tough loss at the Australian Open

Daniil Medvedev entered the 2024 Australian Open with a lot of confidence. He was one of the favorites heading into the tournament, solely because of his finals rate in Melbourne

In another Australian Open final, he took a huge 2-0 set lead and was on the cusp of a victory, but history repeated itself, and the Russian lost a huge lead to lose the game. He lost his fifth Grand Slam final in six tries and became the first player to lose two Grand Slams after taking a two-set lead.

After the horrific loss, the Russian has been at rest with his family. In the process, he withdrew from the Rotterdam Open, and now there are speculations about him withdrawing from the Qatar Open. However, there are a few more tournaments to come, including a couple of important ATP 1000 tournaments, before the French Open

With a new frame of mind, the Russian might return soon to get back to winning ways and hopefully win another slam in the future.
