Jets Breece Hall calls Christian McCaffrey NFLs best, eager for Week 1 showdown against 49ers

Coming off a bizarre season, the New York Jets are heading towards the upcoming 2024 season with expectations straight up the roof. They will be up against 2023’s NFC champions, the San Francisco 49ers in the season opener and running back Breece Hall is the most eager for the showdown.

Hall and the 49ers are no strangers to each other, given their longtime running back Roger Craig is his cousin and star quarterback Brock Purdy was his college roommate. But more than that, he is particularly excited about facing the reigning Offensive Player of the Year, Christian McCaffrey to prove he is equally proficient.

While addressing McCaffrey as the best in the league, Hall expressed his aim to showcase his talent and potential as a running back, especially since he has fully recovered which he wasn’t last season’s Week 1 game following his ACL injury.

It’s on me. I feel like right now McCaffrey’s the best in the league. To me, he sets the standard. We’re going to see him in Week 1 and we’re playing against some of the best linebackers. For me, it’s exciting just to see where I stand and really let everyone see my full talent now that I’m healthy.

Hall also admitted how he couldn’t prove himself last season due to his injury which ended his 2022 rookie season. He completed the 2023 season with 994 rushing yards and caught 76 catches for 591 yards.

Breece Hall’s resilience shines despite ACL recovery

Even though Hall was still recovering from his ACL injury in the 2022 season, he put up above-average numbers on board, proving his immense potential. With 1,585 yards, he ranked fourth in the league in terms of yards, below McCaffrey, CeeDee Lamb and Tyreek Hill

As the season proceeded, Hall’s performance as well enhanced and he truly came through in the final three seasons by logging 191, 126 and 190 yards in each respectively. The running back expressed he didn’t feel like 100 percent of himself and that he couldn’t perform well.

But then – from a broader angle, his team also couldn’t perform well due to Aaron Rodgers’ ACL injury. But, both Hall and Rodgers are pumped up to regain contender status to prove their abilities in their respective manner.
